We are committed to providing a basic understanding of the Bible, not as final word on God's Word, but as a foundational seedbed upon which you can build your knowledge and understanding, or provide a reasonable answer to questions from children and others.

How Do I Find a Bible Passage?

The Bible is not just a book. It’s a library of books. Here is the system for finding a particular passage in one of the “books.” The process works the same for all “books” in the Bible.

Let’s say we want to read the passage that is found at .

“Matthew” is the Book of the Bible. Find what page it begins from the Table of Contents.

“5” is the chapter number. See big numbers. Go to number 5.

“14” is the verse number. See little numbers. Go to number 14.
